**** match tracker following usa vs trinidad & tobago world cup qualifier reports
Zitat:
30- Johnson does it again!!!!!!!!!! From Cherundolo. Unmarked, he heads the ball past Hislop from the top of the 6.

Schmid: Both U.S.outside backs have played very conservatively and not ventured forward much. As Cherundelo finally gets forward, he creates an advantage and hits a great cross for Eddie Johnson to finish.

***** WAY TO GO STEVIE!!!! Can't keep those hanover boys down!! 1-0 usa... stevie started & still in the first half-

I must say, I'm impressed with Stevie. He used to be an unremarkable player at best. Lots of mistakes cost us a lot of points in the first and second Bundesliga season. But not only has Steve improved his game in the last 6 months or so, he is on his way to becoming a leader, too!

Reports say that during halftime of our recent game against Gladbach, when we trailed 0:1 and were well on our way to yet another defeat at home, Steve held a speech that left the other players reeling. With a few words added by the coach, the team was transformed for the second half of the game and won 2:1. Good showing, Steve!

He also had a good game the week before in Wolfsburg when he hit the bar twice. It seems he is evolving into a really dependable player and a leader on the field. Who would have thought? :D

That's great to hear - I've always like 'dolo, and his growth this season has been remarkable.

world cup qualifier tonight- usa 2-guatamala 0- stevie played well- solid defense - allowing few chances , and several offensive runs/ a few dangerous passes- & 1 diving header which missed the mark. he also had a very pretty play moving into the offensive play & cutting toward the middle of the field earning a free kick just outside the penalty area...

two very tough games so i'm sure he will be very tired heading back to hanover..... hopefully young legs will recover quickly & be ready for saturday's game.

Good to hear he is doing well across the pond.
We need him back being able to play though, because it looks like Per Mertesacker broke his nose and him playing against Lautern is doubtable.
But it sound as if Stevie is earning more and more respect from the USMNT's fans and it's coach. Would be important.

Yeah, Steve might be a bit tired after two games in quick succession and all the travel involved. His attempt at a diving header was great. The left midfielder sent in a low cross, and I see this body come diving in near post for the attempted header. I would have guessed just about any other player on the field(including the goalkeeper  ) would have been a more likely person, but it was Steve coming all the way up from right back and across the field to try a header. He almost got it, too. Would have been a heckuva goal.

stevie had a couple of solid world cup qualifiers the past week against costa rica & panama... he seems to be putting a firm grip on his spot for the finals. - the bundesliga seems to have been good for steve-- if only team usa could find a comparable defender on the other side of the field.

hoping hanover fans have a good summer- & looking forward to next season- especially seeing how the new additions fit in.

** oh- looking forward to the u-20 world championships- especially usa vs germany on tuesday- hopefully it will be a good game! **

Yup, he's been one of the best US players in the Gold Cup so far. I was hoping to make it to Foxboro to watch the game on Saturday, but it looks like work will prevent that. :x
