On the website I can buy tickets for the stands in the lower Northern curve but you are probably right, a seat in the upper area is better.

and now for a completely ignorant question: What's up with the club colours? I thought they were green and dark but the team plays in red.

Here is an explanation, even though I think it was a bit later when they decided to play in red: The city sports council designated a shirt colour to every team in Hanover, 96 got red albeit the club colours being black-white-green.
Makes us unique, so it's a good thing (as long as certain presidents don't want to change it in favour of either green or red).

We are here colourful people! You will see People mostly in red shirts (home shirt) and some in white shirts (away shirt), grey, green shirts (former away shirt) or black shirts (reserve shirt or goalkeeper shirt). All shirts combinated with black/white/green or red/black scarfs.

We are not crazy! It's simplly a funny mixture of tradition and fashion

One more advise: When ordering beer, be sure to order Gilde Ratskeller and not Hasseröder. It's almost not advertised but still sold, and it comes from Hanover, so.
