I am sure Mathis perfprmance was inspired by the "uplift" he got from such a dynamic coach following the watch incident.

All sports are mind games - psychology is crucial. It just proves what I have been saying, Leinen aint much of a coach, at least not on the way he handles players. Apparently he managed to "psych" MAthis out of his stride. Germans arent exactly naturally charasmatic style leaders are they?

Well no, we need Austrians to lead us..

anyways, if it just would have been that tapping at his wrist and playing bad against Bielefeld, Lienen would not be as mad as he seems to be. It's porpably more about Mathis' lifestyle, like what he drinks and eats and how he performs at practice...

I really don't see the point in discussing this matter anymore. You have your ideas and you aren't willig to accept the facts.

EWALD LIENEN can't to be such a bad coach since most of the players are playing just great at the moment. And - surprise, suprise - not all of them are uncharismatic Germans - like myself. Right now we have moved ahead of Bayern Munich and we're in 4th place. Even though the brilliant Clint Mathis wasn't playing. Or maybe because he hasn't been playing lately. Has it ever occured to you that there might be better players in the team than him? Probably not.

A few months ago I would have gladly given one of my Gucci handbags if that would have made him score again. Right now I just don't care anymore. And I really don't know if he is worth all the trouble. If July de Guzman and a couple of other players hadn't held him back after he scored that particular goal he probably would have run up to the coach and attacked him. But then again, he is a genius, so it's okay for him, isn't it?!

Well from the article in the press spiegel, it is clear that the relationship between Clint and Ewald Lienen is beyond repair and that Clint will be leaving the team.

It is really disappointing that it could not be worked out. I hope that Clint can stay in Europe as his adviser stated in the article, but I wonder if he has not damaged himself too much through this.

Anyone think that another Bundesliga team will be interested in him?

That would probably be best for everyone. I strongly doubt that Clint will work himself out of this rut.



I imagine some will. Clint has had a few good months with our team and scored som nice goals. So clearly he can help a team. Teams from the lower half of the table will probably be interested in such a player. Sure, they will have read the reports of what happened here but they will probably be willing to take a chance on a guy because they are in dire need of good players.

The better teams will probably stay away from him. I guess.

If I understood correctly Hannover will waive the transfer fee clause in his contract?

Does that mean that a team will just have to take over his current contract?

Anyone know how much he is making on a yearly basis and how it compares on average within the league?

Clint was signed on a Free Transfer so Hannover arent losing any money, that is perhaps why they are being so cavalier about losing a world class player.....

Germany's Kicker Magazine has reported that Landon Donovan will on Jan. 1 rejoin Bayer Leverkusen, the club he signed with in 1999 at age 16 and which has loaned him to the San Jose Earthquakes since 2001. So Germany will lose Mathis and gain Donovan?
