@ keith: possible...
Mathis could be in for half a year in another german club though, possibly Schalke (Rangnick), Mainz or 2nd BL...

Or maybe they are just glad to get rid of a troublemaker, who knows?

I know from experience that it doesn't necessarily take two. But some people just don't get along. And that's the way life is.

as I wrote in the "German Thread" here a few minutes ago, everybody have seen his "awkard" against our coach - and everybody knows that he don´t play at the moment.
I can´t imagine that he will go to another team in the 1. Bundesliga at short notice.
Nearly no club has money at the moment, it seems he is only an avarage-player....however, I find it a little pity.

Well, our club#s president Martin Kind was in the DSF show Doppelpass today, and said that Mathis is not gone yet, and that he will get other chances, as long as he behaves good, but also that the club will be willing to speak if he can find another club...

I guess they wouldn't mind getting rid of him, though. The manager said that maybe Mathis doesn't want to learn from other players' examples. The coach judges his performance not good enough for even the bench.
Plus there is the possibility that Mathis will stir up trouble in the team. So my guess is, the club will try to get rid of him during the next transfer period. Without blaming anyone, it would probably be best for both sides.

Sorry, i disagree. The only real friend from my knowledge Clint has at the team would be Dolo, and Stevie will for sure not bring any problems in the club, he's happy to be playing, he's playing very well and becomes a backbone of our team, he's vice captain and getting along with Lienen.
the only other one who is unhappy would be Sousa, and he is not as much in the center of the team that he could bring trouble neither.
At bigsoccer.com there were some pictures of Clint celebrating the win against Lautern with the team...

``Mathis is very good,'' said Dieter-Ludwig Buckandal, a 64-year-old fan who comes to every practice. ``If they were all like Mathis I'd be thinking UEFA Cup.''
``He's a real joker. It's really good to have him around,'' midfielder Christoph Dabrowski said. ``He's just a very strong addition to this team.''
Its the latter free spirit that would be a problem for a guy like Lienen - bring back RR I say

I am not saying he will cause trouble or even that he wants to. But seen from the perspective of the club, the possibility exists. And they will probably consider trading him for that reason and all the others.
Unless Clint comes around and starts showing his desire to be on the team, of course.

It´s getting clearer that Mathis will leave Hannover this winter. Local Newspapers wirte that he has offers from 10 clubs to join the new established us mls.
Mangement of Hannover 96 confirms his leaving intentions and describes it as a necessary step for Mathis does not seem to be needed and welcome anymore.

Actually, manager Ilja Kaenzig is quoted in todays Kicker as saying that he had a good talk with Mathis' advisor in Munich. He (Kaenzig) said that Mathis would have to change his attitude or leave during the winter transfer period.
So I wouldn't say that Mathis is unwelcome per se, but he will have to take the first step to mend things. Whether he wants to or not is a different matter.

Coach: Behavior is holding him back
[Associated Press]
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Clint Mathis' on-field behavior has become so worrisome that coach Octavio Zambrano has told the forward to see a psychologist.
``I think it would in the best interests of Clint and this organization to address that problem,'' Zambrano said Tuesday. ``This is strictly a situation where the player needs to handle energy in a positive way.''
Mathis and Zambrano discussed the situation Monday, two days after the U.S. national team forward was ejected in the 30th minute of the MetroStars 2-1 loss to DC United.
The MetroStars, who led 1-0 when Mathis was sent off for accidentally stepping on D.C. midfielder Jose Alegria, must win or tie at New England in their regular-season finale on Saturday to make the playoffs -- or get help from other teams.
Zambrano said his concern about Mathis, who appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated prior to the World Cup, dates almost five years, from a time when he coached the Los Angeles Galaxy. Zambrano has seen Mathis yell at officials, teammates and opponents.
``For the most part, we have tried to address it within our scope, which is basically to talk to the player and tell him it's not in his best interests or the team's best interests,'' Zambrano said. ``There comes a point where it was evident to me where that no longer had any true impact on him. Therefore, I have told him to look at it from a different perspective to help him deal with it a little better.''
Mathis was not immediately available for comment, but he told the Herald News of West Paterson that he thought Zambrano brought the issue up to motivate him.
``Octavio believes there is a problem there and the only reason he is bringing it up publicly is to get my attention,'' Mathis told the Herald News. ``That's fine. We'll do whatever we have to do to fix it.''
Zambrano said he has seen sports psychologists help players focus, turning a good athlete into a great one.
``He can conceivably achieve extreme success, but I think this is an issue that is holding him back,'' Zambrano said.
Mathis, 25, scored one goal in the World Cup in limited play. Bayern Munich and other teams spoke of a possible transfer but interest appeared to wane after U.S. coach Bruce Arena questioned his conditioning before the tournament.
Mathis, who has four goals in 14 games, is under contract to the MetroStars through next season, and Zambrano is eager to see him focused on the field.
``I firmly believe he has taken the first step, which is agreeing to it,'' Zambrano said of the counseling. ``I think he is going to be back on the national team and be the Clint we all know and love in addressing this.''
Well, Keith, I thought this might be interesting for you.

MetroStars: Sarachan took over at Chicago because Bob Bradley returned "home" to the New York/New Jersey area to head up MetroStars. Bradley's first season in the Big Apple was a struggle as several big name stars failed to come together to produce the juggernaut it could be. Adding or perhaps healing Bradley's player headaches could be the imminent departure of one of the league's most talented players Clint Mathis. The former Mohican was linked with a move to Bayern Munich just last year and is out of contract. Currently Mathis is on trial with Glasgow Rangers. His departure would leave a huge void up front for Bradley, but Mathis' questionable work ethic and fiery temper on the pitch may not be missed.

Bah, these coaches don't know a thing about football. Clint Mathis is a world class player and can help any team. Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Milan, if these clubs weren't so ignorant, they'd have signed him a long time ago. But I guess it is telling that clubs from the Old Europe won't sign an American.
