So, after beating St Patrick's and Wrocław well face Twente, Levante and Helsingborg in the group. Any thoughts?

Won't be easy BUT I feel H96 will come through
Hope the tough group doesn't affect our league form too much

Travelling was relatively smooth if only Deutsche Bahn would not have messed with my brothers' schedule. Enschede is a typical Dutch town, very nice, very suited for shopping, which my brother and dada loved and I loathed. Oude Markt is a nice enough location, though on Thursday it didn't seem more impressive than what you can do in Amsterdam or Groningen (which was somehow how it was presented to me over the years. Urinals going out from the ground are an awesome idea though, I want that for our Opera square!
The riots on Oude Markt were stupid and unnecessary, and while both groups clearly were no angels (plus there were Schalke hooligans walking around and it was clear what they were there for) I guess some of our 'fans' did provoke it. No wonder if future clubs will treat us more like we were treated in Liege last year than we were welcomed in Enschede (which really was with open arms by most of the population and authorities). We were sitting at oude markt when they first started ('only' a few chairs and tables thrown into the no man's-land), but quickly got up and went to a nice restaurant nearby to be out of the way and also not be in the situation of being escorted to the stadium.
I really don't get why some of our 'fans' were so aggressive, the facts it's a Dutch team and the friendship with Schalke aside Twente is a team that has the Saxon Horse as a logo, is nicknamed 'German' in the rest of the Netherlands, and plays in red (and has the same smiley face on the shirts), I don't see why we need to be especially hostile against them and can't behave like most fans did in Copenhagen last year. I guess it was worsened by the fact that only so few tickets were available to us though, if we would have been 10 000 like we were in Copenhagen the vast majority of additional fans would not have been troublemakers, meaning the number of trouble makers would have paled in comparison.
The stadium is nicely situated and easily to navigate. The way Twente treats the visiting fans is close to scandal though, blasting us with techno music before the game so that nobody could hear there own words, leave alone sing and create an atmosphere for the game, and constructing the outer wall so that the view on some seats is totally obstructed and the acoustic is seriously worsened. I hope Twente will see that you can do that differently on the 22nd of November and maybe incorporate that for future extensions. Same goes with additional tickets if you can't sell out your own stadium, actually.

As regards the game itself, Twente was clearly the better team, we were lucky to come away with a draw. Both teams are as of yet unbeaten. It was clearly 96's weakest game this season. Twente was also clearly more impressive than Bremen or Schalke this season, weak opponents in the league so far aside I think you have a good shot at the championship this year, and rightly so. On the other hand the lucky points we got over the last 2 games (and arguably the Schalke game) are also the result of hard work, if we do not repeat the 1st half we have good chances at overwintering (German/Dutchisms ftw!) in the EL and making it into Europe again at the end of this season. The team no breaking showed a strong mentality at work.

Leaving the stadium and celebrating into my brother's birthday on Oude Markt was very nice and we encountered no problems, though we again were able to visit the riots in front of the stadium, this time in the safe distance and while sitting in a driving train, so that was much more relaxing. Again, I don't get it at all. If you want to beat yourself up meet each other in a forest somewhere but leave the police and the normal fans alone!

I am very much looking forward to the game on the 22nd of November, I still think Twente and 96 are better than Levante and Helsingborg, and I hope 96 can show it's worth at the home game.

Zitat Paul Breitner: Da kam dann das Elfmeterschießen. Wir hatten alle die Hosen voll, aber bei mir lief's ganz flüssig.

The only way to avoid that is by becoming a Bayern fan, so you are doing everything right. It's just part of being a Hannover fan :)

Hannover - Twente 0-0 after 45'

this match is useless... if we win, draw, or lose, in any case we need one point against Levante for the 1st place...

we have FCB on saturday... some men could have been saved from this match (i.e. Zieler, Stewie, Haggui, Huzsti,......)
