I'm an Australian 96 fan,as far as I know there are 2 of us.
where do the rest of the non German 96 fans come from? and how did you you start to like 96?
For me it was the Logo, just a 96,no words, just a number. Then i got a German gf from Hannover and it was more exciting supporting a battler rather than Bayern or Werder

Welcome John,
the most posts are from Britain, USA, Chechia, Poland, Finland or Denmark. I knew a Fan (born here) who work today in Libanon.
The 96 means 1896 the year of the foundation of the club.

G'day to an Ozzy 96er!
Sheffield England here
Got into Hannover as a kid when elder brother came home from Military duty near Hannover. He brought me a pennant/decal and as you said it was the simple yet effective logo that hooked me.
I too was lucky enough to live and work in Hameln about 45km south of Hannover both in 70s and 90s but I so wish they would return to first choice colours of green black and white - am just an old fashioned boy!!!
Welcome from a 96 Pom
_________________ Followed Hannover 96 since the 1960s as a kid.
My English team is Sheffield Wednesday.
Used to live in Hameln.
PLEASE return the 96 to green shirts, black shorts and white socks!

I know he is back home now,he isn't playing regularly. He lost his spot.I'm talking about 96 fans who are Australians. There is one other who lives in Berlin,we met on the facebook site for 96 and when he was in Sydney we met and shared our 96 stories! looks a shame with the club now but we always remain loyal, wir sind die roten! just hope huszti will stay

I heard on a local TV show here that Celtic are interested in signing Huszti. Could someone please explain to him that Glasgow is not a very nice place to live and is extremely cold at this time of year. Also, the Glaswegians speak a language that only other Glaswegians can understand. He would be far better off living in a beautiful city like Hannover.
OK, North Saxony winters are also a little chilly, but in the Bundesliga he doesn't have to play football in the ice and snow like they do in Scotland. They are a tough bunch up their!

I'm a dutch fan. For me it's quite easy to follow matches from Hannover 96, especially when they are near the Dutch-German border. I lived three months in Hannover and became a 96 fan.
In 2000 I was in Australia. I made a trip from Adelaide to Sydney. It's a beautiful country and I love it very much. When I got the chance to return I will do that!

Just found this part of the site and thought I would join and say alreet to all you 96 fans out there.
Lived in Sehnde for many a year, and still follow the fortunes of the Roten. Now back in England. Life long Newcastle United fan, so no all about suffering.
Hope to see both my teams climb the league soon!!!!

Am I the first Irish fan on this forum? I visited Hannover for the world cup game between Poland and Costa Rica a few years ago,met some '96 fans in the Dublin Inn and have been back each season for a few games.
