Hi there,
Arsenal fan here, I heard a few rumours at the weekend that we may be playing a friendly at the AWD stadium on the 29th July.
I checked our you forum and it seems it may be true.
So I've booked on a cheap Ryanair into Bremen, got a bargain £24 return all in.
Can any of you guys confirm that the game is actually going ahead? or any other infomation that may be useful for me?
just need to find a hotel now for the night and then arrange some good drinking places!
Cheers

Yes, it's true. Confirmed on the german Hannover 96 site. Didn't find an article on the english site, though.
http://www.hannover96.de/CDA/aktuelles/news/detailansicht.html?tx_ttnews[tt_news]=43813&cHash=3c35cc3a14
Tickets should be available from the mid of june. Further info will be given soon.
You should be able to find a free room in a hotel here!
(if a youth hostel is okay.. it's only 3 minutes away from the stadium )
edit: don't know, how much money the room should cost, but the Suitehotel Hannover is located right behind the main station. The Transfer to the stadium is pretty easy. You could go by foot or take the metro (Tickets allow to use the metro from 3 hours before the kick-off).
If you want to drink a beer or two after the match, while being surrounded by english-speaking people, visit the "Dublin Inn" in the old town. If you want to meet Hannover fans, you can take every other bar into consideration
Other forum users might give further tips on this topic

Guys,
Thanks very much for the info and quick responses.
We are in the process of seeing how many of us are coming over before I look at the hotels, just wanted to get the flights booked before the price goes up.
I think I'll steer clear of the youth hostel, getting a bit too old for that, the last time I had to stay in youth hostel was when we played in Dortmund a few years ago in the Champs league.
Nothing has been mentioned about the game here in the Uk yet so seems strange. There should be a few 'Gooners' make the trip and up for a few beers. We always have a good time in Germany and the AWD Arena will be a new venue for me.
Cheers

Have fun in Hanover, but please: call it Niedersachsenstadion (Lower Saxony Stadium).

" Pre-season highlight: Arsenal on 29th July
In line with tradition the first pre-season friendly will be played on the 2nd July. But Reds fans have a real treat in store on the 29th of the same month, as Hannover 96 take on Champions League semi-finalists Arsenal FC. Arsène Wenger's team will travel to the AWD Arena in what will be a real test for 96. The dates of further friendlies will be published in the next few days."

Hi, just wondered if you could confirm some information.
For visiting fans blocks S6-S9 lower tier are seating, blocks S15-S16 are seating and blocks S17-19 are standing. This was the information I was given by the 96 box office when asking about the Arsenal game. Does that all sound correct?
Arsenal have yet to release ticket details so I have asked 96 directly.
Thanks, Paul.

Hard to say...I guess some guys are going to travel to the training camp in Austria and then up to Hannover as well. As well as "German Gooners", and there has been interest on some of the forums with people having booked flights and waiting for ticket details from Arsenal.

Greetings from an Arsenal fan!
I'm travelling over to Hannover next week for the friendly match, i can't wait to experience some German football again as our friendly in Stuttgart last summer was my best footballing experience following the Arsenal.
I'm wondering if any of you natives can help me out though. Me and my girlfriend are pretty young and are looking for a decent nightclub to go to after the game, our train back to Bremen in order to go home is at 5am so we're looking for something that's open pretty late into the night.
Me and my friends did something similar last year when we stopped over in Cologne on route to Stuttgart, we found it quite difficult to find somewhere lively on a Wednesday night.
Any advice is appreciated. Can't wait for the game.

Thanks for those, i'll have a proper look at them in the morning. Good to know there are places open though so i don't have to worry about sleeping outside the train station with the homeless like i had to do in Rome earlier this year, my girlfriend will be happy at that
Yeah i've sort of checked the local tourist sites and stuff, but it's always better to get a locals first hand opinion. Our day is pretty much planned as the Zoo, Herrenhausen Gardens then onto the game.
Can't wait.

That's what i'd call a packed day.
Besides that, you didn't consider to visit the "Maschseefest" that is taking place around the Maschsee, nearby the stadium..
Pretty nice envireonment to have a drink, or two
(Pray to god, that they won't cancel it 'cause of the swine flu.. )
